Extracting Cultural Resources

blog dateline: Aug. 6, 08, Thunder Bay

……..Blind River, ON……..

In a country of resource extraction, sometimes the most impressive resources are surprisingly left unscratched.

This is the case in Blind River, Ontario, where an exciting exhibition awaits the eye of international attention.

The Art Freedom Ocean to Ocean Tour arrived in Blind River and is in the process of detailing the exhibition in full. The pics will be transferred within a couple of days and when we get time will post more. Hang onto your hard hats – this is interesting.

I took this photo off of a series of photos posted on the wall of the laundry of the campsite we were at. They had put up a series of eight old photos showing scenes from some kind of regatta or swimming event from 1956. I think it was a 50th anniversary.

It looks like a day at the beach back then was a much bigger deal than it is now…

Notre Dame du Lac is wonderfully nestled amphitheater-style along the shores of Lac Témiscouata, in the lower St. Lawrence area of Quebec, near the New Brunswick border. The Trans Canada Trail goes right through there…
